Despite the countless new note-taking devices that technology throws at us, there’s something about the tangibility of putting pen to paper that makes us not want to let go of the writing tools we know and love the most. until now, no ipad, laptop, or smartphone has managed to electronically recreate the experience of writing. With that being said, SONY have set out to create a digital alternative to replace the piles of a4 sheets currently littering our desks, that still creates the same satisfying sensation. enter the large DPT-RP1 e-paper tablet, already the world’s thinnest and lightest digital device, measuring just over half a centimeter in thickness and equipped with a high-res electronic paper screen.
The e-paper tablet is the successor of SONY’s first digital paper device, the DTP S1. following customer feedback, the new device is designed to take the concept of an e-paper display and turn it into a device that actually looks and feels like a sheet of paper. SONY shed pounds from the device to make it even more lightweight, and adds a newly-developed non-slip panel onto the e-ink screen to give the same sense of resistance as writing on real paper.
The usability of the DPT-RP1 is designed around the writing experience, with the home buttom and micro USB terminal conveniently placed at the top of the device, to stay out of the way of the user’s hands. even the back of the device is finished to a texture that feels exactly like paper. the A4 tablet can hold about 10,000 PDF files, making it equivalent to the biggest notebook you’ve ever owned. the combination of a newly adopted electrostatic capacitance type touch panel system and a rechargeable stylus pen even allows detailed writing to the edge of the screen, just like a real sheet of paper.
In the future. SONY wants to continue with its mission to make paper obsolete by creating a ‘digital paper collaborative server software’ that will allow companies to send forms straight to the e-paper tablet, saving any need to print and fill them in by hand.the DPT-RP1 is set to be released on june 5th 2017 in japan.

AFROPUNK’s message is about “POWER TO THE PARTY,” encompassing education, political awareness and self-empowerment. Respect, breaking down stereotypes, and celebrating individu- ality are key to the AFROPUNK ethos, and it’s a ‘safe space / no hate’ zone for creativity. Lon- don’s first edition will welcome souls from all cultures and backgrounds for a day of positive energy and next-level entertainment. Get a feel for the AFROPUNK spirit by checking the video here.
Party is an oxymoron, it’s a gathering of many for a shared purpose and it’s also an outcast indi- vidual, it’s a lively social occasion as well as a gang – and the story of any party is never over, be- cause like naked cities and the metaphysical “I”, there’s always another take.
Power to the Party means trusting the friction, the transference of great capacity to the free spirit, belief in the high-heeled spark of the assembly, and the group mind’s ability to choose a glorious path. This isn’t about getting elected, or being protected; it’s about staking a claim. Join the party and feel its power.
A special homecoming for Hackney born AFROPUNK founder Matthew Morgan, London’s edition is one that’ll be significant for the festival organisers. On top of the music across the day, Alexan- dra Palace will play host to a vibrant space filled with artists, designers, exhibitions and food vendors, who’ll host a full agenda of extra activities. Attendees are encouraged to jump in and become a part of the AFROPUNK community through on-site pop-ups, art and stalls – it’s about creating an extended family of AFROPUNK with a united voice to be heard and celebrated. Part- ners for the UK’s first year include pioneering radio station NTS Radio, CRACK and a special stage partner TBA. On-site arts, stalls, food, DJ sets and extra’s to be announced in the coming months. Learn more at the AFROPUNK website: afropunkfest.com/london/

Each bill has its own unique United States serial number. You can even get the kit and use any note including those out of circulation.

The ‘Bamboo and Carbon Fiber’ bicycles by the Spanish company, bambu campos bikes, form a collection of models: fixed, single speed and urban, that are completely customizable. Choices such as different colors, geometry and sizes can all be chosen and then added to the hand-crafted two-wheeler. The frame which has a commemorative, unique serial number, utilizes the natural lightness and vibration-dampening characteristics of bamboo. The sustainable wood is joined together using carbon fiber – opposed to the common practice of using aluminum – in order to ensure the structure is even more lightweight and stiff.
As much as we love the images that come out of our DSLRs, or the convenience of our phone cameras, there’s still something to be said for the instant print gratification that we remember from the days of Polaroid. Recalling the whole point, shoot, print experience isn’t going to be that difficult anymore because, like all things retro, Polaroid is back with a new instant camera that they’re calling Snap. Designed to merge the nostalgic Polaroid experience with modern technology, Snap saves images shot with the 10MP camera onto a Micro SD card (up to 32 GB) then prints them onto 2×3″ prints using ZINK Zero Ink Printing Technology. You get to keep or share the physical prints, but also upload any pictures for sharing without having to find a scanner. Snap will be available later this year in black, white, red and blue.

CES 2015: a bicycle pedal that can notify the owner if their vehicle has been moved was launched at the Consumer Electronics Show this week.
French startup Connected Cycle revealed “the first ever connected pedal” prototypes, with built-in global positioning systems (GPS) that could prevent bikes being stolen, at the Las Vegas event recently.
When linked up to a smart device via the internet, the equipment sends the owner a notification when it detects a change in location.
“This new high-tech equipment instantly notifies the bike owner if the bike is moved, and allows it to be located at any time,” said Connected Cycle co-founder Jean-Marie Debbasch. “It is also able to locate where the bike was last parked.”
The pedal automatically records the rider’s speed, route, incline and calories burnt on every trip – without the need for carrying a phone or tablet on the journey. These statistics are stored on a digital cloud system and are accessed using the Connected Cycle app.
The pedals will be sold in pairs, with one featuring the technology and the other designed to match aesthetically.
Aluminium cases protect the internal electronics, while the foot pads come in colours including black, red, blue, green and orange.
Installing the pedals onto an existing bike requires no mechanical skill and can be completed in less than two minutes, according to the designers. The pedals can only be removed using a special coded key possessed by the bike’s owner.
Connected Cycle is currently seeking investors and considering crowdfunding to bring the pedals into production later this year.
